Richard Brown-Stewart selected as Alliance East Londonderry Assembly candidate

The former Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens said he remains committed to making East Londonderry the ‘best possible place’ to live.
Alliance Councillor Richard Brown-Stewart has been selected by the party to stand in the 2027 Assembly election for East Londonderry.
Mr Brown-Stewart has said: “It’s been an absolute privilege to have been able to represent this area over the last number of years as a councillor, and a particular honour to have been able to meet so many of the people that make this constituency great during my tenure as Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens.
“From helping secure funding for better facilities and more accessibility features in our public venues, to championing the expansion of EV charging facilities and helping save the historic railway clock, I remain committed to making this area the best possible place to live and work for everyone.
“I have a strong track record of delivery right across the community and I want to go even further as your MLA. I’m acutely aware of the pressures facing our families and businesses, particularly in rural communities, and my party is committed to making the decisions at Stormont that’ll help make their lives easier.
“That means, just for example, better childcare and public transport, taking action on second homes and holiday lets so local people can afford to live in the communities where they were born and raised, and practical action to bring down energy costs and the cost of doing business.
“We’re all too aware here what it looks like when others lead with a politics fear and division. It’s time we did things differently, instead championing a politics of hope, peace, and progression.
“One that looks forward towards the future and working together to create a truly shared, inclusive, and prosperous society for the generations coming after us.
“That’s the kind of representation I want to bring for East Derry~Londonderry, and I look forward to making the case for it.”
